OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the activity the participants will:

Know the early signs of autism and the importance of identification and medical work up.

Identify and monitor the most impairing autism behaviors in children and adolescents.

Describe the complexities of treating behaviors related to Autism.

Identify and monitor the cognitive, adaptive and social deficits of children and adolescents on the autism spectrum.

Describe strategies to improve social, communication and behavioral autism impairments.
-
Make differential diagnoses and assessments within the autism spectrum.

Employ age-appropriate pharmacotherapy for target symptoms.
-
Devise strategies to ensure medication adherence and counsel patients and their parents accordingly.
Target Audience: Psychiatrists, Neurologists, Pediatricians/PCPs, Psychologists, Residents, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Social Workers, and other health care providers caring for autistic children and adolescents.
