Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing focuses specifically on children with hearing loss. Provides ongoing support and advocacy for parents, professionals and other interested parties. Also provides financial aid for mainstream and auditory-based education to qualifying applicants at pre-school, school age and university levels. Governmental and education advocacy services provided through its state chapters, children's rights coordinators and international affiliates.

Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD)is a national non-profit, tax-exempt (Section 501 (c) (3)) organization providing education, advocacy and support for individuals with AD/HD. In addition to our informative Web site, CHADD also publishes a variety of printed materials to keep members and professionals current on research advances, medications and treatments affecting individuals with AD/HD. The Community Services Resource Directory helps families who have children with special needs, health care and social services providers, and advocates to find listings for all kinds of community services throughout the District of Columbia – and some national organizations with headquarters or offices in the city. Services for adults and the elderly are included in the directory, since many children with special needs have parents, grandparents, and other caregivers who need such services and ask for help in locating them.
