History

Health Services for Children with Special Needs, Inc. (HSCSN/NET) is a subsidiary of The HSC Foundation. The mission of The HSC (Health Services for Children) Foundation is to facilitate access to health care services for children with special needs and their families in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, while conducting regional and national projects with governmental, private, and philanthropic organizations.

The HSC Foundation serves as the parent organization for two nonprofit entities: The HSC Pediatric Center (formerly The Hospital for Sick Children) and Health Services for Children with Special Needs, Inc. (HSCSN/NET).

HSCSN/NET was incorporated on February 2, 1994 to manage the care and improve access to services for children with special health care needs. It was started as a demonstration project under a Health Care Financing Administration 1115 waiver. HSCSN/NET is now an innovative care management network coordinating health, social, and education services for the pediatric Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and SSI-eligible populations of Washington, DC. We have grown to serve over 3,100 children and adolescents with special needs in the District of Columbia.
